At a recent Leadership Development programme a delegate mentioned that the handouts were printed on single sided A4 paper and asked whether we were aware of their company’s green agenda, the Kyoto agreement and deforestation problems. 

The handouts were printed that way to allow for delegate’s own notes on the blank side. But were they really needed? This prompted a major review of RV’s business practices.

As a result, Annie and Francis Raven-Vause have revolutionalised their business. They have measured their own carbon footprint and have become a greener organisation. Their changes include:

1)      Writing and adopting a Green Business Policy

2)      Using local green suppliers

3)      Recycling all ink cartridges, plastics, tins, paper and glass

4)      Using low energy appliances / bulbs wherever possible

5)      Offering Clients invoices, quotes and work materials electronically instead of on paper

6)      Using video-conferencing rather than face to face meetings to reduce carbon mileage

7)      Reprinting future stationery supplies onto recycled paper
